MOLTKE'S PALACE

Moltke’s Palace dates back to the beginning of the eighteenth century, back to a time before the establishment of Frederiksstad, when the corner of Dronningens Tværgade and Bredgade was almost surrounded by swamp. When it took two days to travel from Copenhagen to the middle of Zealand, and when manners and customs were very different from those we know today.
 
If the walls of Moltke’s Palace could talk, they would spin a fascinating tale of counts, merchant princes, dowager queens, artists and other noble people who put their distinctive stamp on Moltke’s Palace – both in respect to the edifice itself, and to all to which it has borne witness.
